Puppy therapy in Houston. Stress relief that wags.

Ten minutes with a puppy lowers cortisol. We bring the puppies, the handlers, and an hour that actually helps.

Pawty Yoga runs puppy therapy sessions across Houston for people who are stretched thin: a team in a brutal quarter, students in finals week, nurses coming off a run of night shifts, or one person who needs a Saturday reset. A litter of vetted 8 to 16 week old puppies, trained handlers, and 60 to 90 minutes with or without a gentle yoga portion. Public sessions are $60; private and workplace sessions start at $1,175 for the whole group.

Plain talk: we are not licensed therapists and this is not a substitute for care. It is a responsible, well-run hour with puppies that leaves most people measurably calmer. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.

Why a puppy hour works

The research on animal-assisted interaction is consistent: about ten minutes of petting a dog lowers cortisol and raises oxytocin, slows heart rate, and lowers blood pressure for most people, with the biggest effects in people who are the most stressed going in. University counseling centers run "pet a puppy" days during finals for exactly this reason, and hospitals have therapy dog programs for their own staff. None of it is permanent. That is fine. A reliable 60-minute reset, on demand, is a useful tool.

Our contribution is doing it well. Puppies that are calm because they are with their littermates and breeder. Handlers who keep the rotation moving so nobody sits empty-lapped and no puppy gets overhandled. A quiet room, sanitized blankets and mats, hand sanitizer at the door, a signed waiver from every adult, and a published welfare standard we hold to whether it is a public class or a boardroom.

Puppy therapy questions, answered

What is puppy therapy?+

Puppy therapy is structured time with puppies for the calming effect it has on people. In our version a litter of vetted 8 to 16 week old puppies with their breeder and our trained handlers spends 60 to 90 minutes with your group, with or without a gentle yoga portion. It is not clinical therapy and we are not licensed mental health providers; it is a well-run, responsible dose of puppies.

Does puppy therapy actually reduce stress?+

Interacting with a dog for as little as ten minutes has been shown in university studies to lower cortisol, the primary stress hormone, and raise oxytocin. Heart rate and blood pressure drop for most people. The effect is short term, which is exactly why it works for a finals week, a hard quarter, or a Friday that needs saving.

Who books puppy therapy in Houston?+

Individuals and friends who book a public session for the cuddle time; offices booking a puppy break for a stressed team; universities and schools during exams; hospitals and clinics for nurse and staff appreciation; and support groups or churches for a gentle, low-pressure gathering. Anyone who wants people to leave calmer than they arrived.

How much does a puppy therapy session cost?+

For one person, a public session ticket is $60. For a group, a private puppy therapy session is $1,175 flat at our Memorial-area studio on a scheduled date for up to 24 people, from $1,350 for up to 20 at a private venue we arrange, or from $1,400 plus travel for up to 20 at your own workplace or venue. Every quote is written and confirmed before a deposit.

Is it puppy yoga or puppy therapy?+

Your call. Some groups want the gentle 45-minute flow first because it settles the room; others want blankets, cushions, and puppies from minute one. Same puppies, handlers, setup, and price either way. Tell us the group and we will recommend one.

Are the puppies okay with this?+

Yes, and we publish how. Our puppies come from vetted ethical Houston-area breeders, stay with their littermates, have their breeder on site, and rotate through rest breaks with fresh water in a quiet retreat space. Sessions are capped by litter size, and we never wake a sleeping puppy. Calm puppies are the whole point.

Can you come to a hospital, campus, or office?+

Yes, anywhere indoors and climate controlled in Greater Houston: a conference room, a lounge, a gym, a student center. Our $1,000,000 liability policy and a certificate of insurance are available for any facility that asks. Outdoor spaces and areas other dogs use are out for the puppies' safety.

What ages can attend?+

Public sessions are ages 7 and up with a participating adult. Private sessions are all ages, so student groups, families, and multi-generational gatherings all work.
