Houston's first dedicated puppy yoga studio — and why we built it on purpose
Pawty Yoga is a Memorial-area, family-owned puppy yoga studio. We're the only program in Houston that's local-founded, capped at 20 mats per session, partnered exclusively with vetted ethical breeders, and family-friendly by design. None of that is marketing — every part of it was a decision we made when we set this up, and we'd rather explain why than pretend we just stumbled into the format.
Why Pawty Yoga exists
For years, the only way to do puppy yoga in Houston was to wait for a national chain to drop into a brewery for a one-weekend pop-up, charge $70 a ticket, pack 30 people into a too-small room, and disappear back to Dallas or Austin. The puppies were sourced through bulk partnerships nobody on the chain side could really speak to. The classes were templated. The local accountability was zero.
We're a Houston family. We love this city's wellness scene. We love dogs more than is reasonable. And we kept hearing the same thing from friends who'd done one of those pop-ups: "It was fun, but I wished it had been smaller, and I wished I knew more about the puppies." So we built the version those friends actually wanted: smaller groups, transparent sourcing, family-friendly format, real local accountability, and a price point that doesn't require a $70 mat fee.
That's the whole story. The studio is in Memorial because we live here. The cap is 20 mats because that's where the puppy-to-human ratio still feels right. The ethical breeder partnerships are documented because we'd rather you ask hard questions than wonder.
What we believe
Puppy welfare first, always
If a puppy is overstimulated, they leave. If a litter isn't a fit for class, we don't book them. The puppies' day is more important than the class's revenue.
Built for families
Kids 5+ on their own mat, kids under 5 on a parent's mat for free. The format absorbs all ages and intentionally so.
Standards published, not implied
Our breeder vetting checklist is on the site. Anyone can audit it.
Local, not national
If you have a question, the founder reads the email. If something goes wrong at a session, we fix it that day.
Small groups on purpose
Capped at 20 mats. Real puppy time per person. We don't oversell sessions, even when we could.
The experience is the product
Mats included. Phones & cameras welcome. No add-ons. The 75 minutes you book is the 75 minutes you get.
The breeder vetting standard, in short
We work exclusively with ethical breeder partners we've personally evaluated. Every one is screened against this checklist:
- Visit-able facility — we visit before partnership; you can request to visit too.
- Single-breed specialization — focused expertise, not volume operations.
- Health-tested parents — documented hip, eye, and breed-specific health screens.
- Limited litters per year — quality of life over commercial output.
- Lifetime return policy — every puppy placed has a return option for life.
- Transparent pedigree records — full documentation, not "we'll get back to you."
Every puppy at a Pawty Yoga session is 8–16 weeks old, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, and screened for temperament before being invited. We've intentionally chosen not to work with rescues — not because we don't care about rescues, but because rescue puppies have unknown temperament, health history, and socialization readiness that doesn't fit a 20-person studio class environment.
