🧒 Family-first puppy yoga · Houston

Puppy yoga for kids in Houston. Ages 7 and up in class, all ages at a party.

Can kids do puppy yoga? Yes. Here are the ages, the prices, and how to book, in one place.

Pawty Yoga was built family-first. At our public weekend classes, kids 7 and up get their own mat next to a participating adult, $60 per person, 75 minutes, at our Memorial-area studio. For younger kids, birthdays, and mixed-age groups, a private kids' party is all ages, at our studio or yours. Every puppy is 8 to 16 weeks old from a vetted ethical breeder, with trained handlers on the floor the whole time.

The question we get most from parents is "how old do you have to be?" Here is the whole policy.

What a puppy yoga class looks like with a kid

The format is the same whether you are 8 or 38: a 10-minute settle, a 35-minute gentle flow, and 30 minutes of open puppy time at the end. Kids do all of it. What changes is who is in charge of their attention.

  • The kid runs their own class. If they want every pose, great. If they want to spend the whole hour petting one puppy, also great. Nobody enforces anything, and the class is built to absorb it.
  • You are side by side, not watching. You are on the next mat with the same puppies wandering between you. Parents underestimate how much this matters.
  • You get the photo. Our handlers snap candid moments and send a shared folder afterward. The best one we have ever taken is a 6-year-old laughing because a puppy fell asleep on her shins mid-pose.

Is puppy yoga safe for kids?

Yes, and we would rather be specific than reassuring.

  • Every puppy comes from an ethical breeder we have evaluated in person against a published welfare standard. No puppy mills, no unknown sourcing.
  • Every puppy is 8 to 16 weeks old, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, and temperament-screened before it is invited to class.
  • Trained handlers are on the floor for the full 75 minutes. Their job is to manage puppy-and-kid interactions, watch for an overstimulated puppy, and show a kid how to hold one gently.
  • Mats and floors are cleaned between every session, shoes come off at the door, and hand sanitizer is out for everyone.

Parent questions, answered

Can kids do puppy yoga?+

Yes. Kids 7 and up join our public weekend classes on their own mat next to a participating adult. Younger kids are welcome at private parties, which are all ages.

How old do you have to be?+

Public classes are ages 7 and up with a participating adult, each with their own $60 ticket and mat. Private parties have no minimum age. Infants under one should stay home; older infants in a carrier are fine.

Is it safe for kids?+

Yes. Vetted breeders, 8 to 16 week old vaccinated and temperament-screened puppies, trained handlers on the floor the whole session, and cleaning between every class. Details are in the safety section above.

What if my kid is scared of dogs?+

This is an unusually good setting for a nervous kid. The puppies are tiny, quiet, and slow, and our handlers know how to read a kid who needs space. Most warm up within ten minutes.

What if my kid acts up?+

It almost never happens, the puppies regulate the room. Even an over-tired kid usually settles within five minutes of a puppy in their lap. If you need a reset, the studio has a quiet corner and we will not make a thing of it.

Can siblings share a mat?+

At public classes, each guest 7 and up needs their own mat and ticket. Families book 4 or 5 mats together and it works well. At private parties the mat count is flexible.

Do parents have to participate?+

At public classes, yes, kids attend with a participating adult on the next mat. At private parties, parents can join on a mat or watch, and spectators are free.

Can a 7-year-old really do yoga for 75 minutes?+

The yoga is slow and nobody enforces focus. Most kids do half the poses, get distracted by a puppy, and try again. By minute 45 it becomes open puppy time, which is the part they talk about for days.
