A New Year's resolution you'll actually enjoy
Most resolutions fade by mid-January because they feel like a chore. Puppy yoga flips that. It's a gentle, all-levels class led by a certified yoga instructor, with playful puppies wandering the mats, climbing into laps and stealing every pose. No experience needed, no flexibility required, and nobody is keeping score.
If your list of new year wellness ideas includes "move more, stress less, have more fun," this is the version you'll want to repeat. Our public classes run at our Memorial studio on Memorial Drive, an easy drive from the Heights, River Oaks, Katy and Spring Branch. Wear something comfy (here's what to wear), bring a friend, and let the puppies handle the motivation.
Start the year calm, happy and a little covered in puppies.
Beat the January blues and post-holiday stress
After the parties, the travel and the end-of-year rush, January can feel long, even in Houston. A puppy yoga class is a simple mood boost: slow stretching, deep breaths and a lot of laughing when a puppy decides your downward dog is a tunnel. It's a great way to unwind and reset before the year picks up speed.
Gentle movement
Beginner-friendly stretching at your own pace. Modify anything, or just sit and cuddle.
Real laughter
Puppies untie shoelaces, nap on mats and photobomb poses. It's impossible to stay serious.
A screen-free hour
Phones come out for puppy photos, then go back in the bag. A real break from inboxes.
Time with your people
Friends, family or coworkers sharing something new together to start the year.
New Year's Day activities in Houston for the whole family
Looking for things to do on New Year's in Houston that get everyone off the couch? Puppy yoga makes a fresh family tradition. At public classes, kids 7 and up join with a participating adult. For younger kids or a bigger family group, book a private party and we'll plan the flow around your crew: simpler poses, more puppy time and plenty of photos. See our puppy yoga for kids page for ideas.
Private parties work at our Spring Branch partner venue, at your home in Cypress or Sugar Land, or at your neighborhood clubhouse in The Woodlands. The first weekend of January is a natural pick too, once everyone is back from travel and looking for one more fun outing before school and work ramp back up. Ask about New Year's Day and first-weekend dates early, since holiday-week availability depends on our puppies and crew.
Dry January activities in Houston (and New Year's Eve day plans)
Doing Dry January, or just sober-curious? Puppy yoga is a naturally alcohol-free outing with nothing to "skip." The fun comes from the puppies, the people and the post-class glow, not the bar tab. Bring the friends who are cutting back and the friends who aren't; everyone leaves smiling. More ideas on our sober and alcohol-free fun page.
It also makes a great New Year's Eve daytime plan: a private morning or afternoon class for your friend group, photos at our backdrop, and the whole evening still free for whatever comes next.
January team building ideas: a "new year, new team" kickoff
January is when teams set goals, welcome new hires and reset after the holidays. A puppy yoga kickoff gives everyone a shared, low-pressure experience to start the year together, with a people-first wellness angle: a break from screens, a reason to laugh with coworkers and a great way to ease stress before first-quarter deadlines. Nobody needs workout clothes or yoga experience.
We come to your office, conference room or offsite anywhere in Greater Houston, or host your team at our Memorial studio. Explore corporate puppy yoga, puppies in the office, or our puppy pilates, sound baths and other wellness formats for a mental health or wellness week.
